Kishon, His Name Precedes Him
2017, Israel | 60 minutes
Synopsis: Ephraim Kishon was a Holocaust Survivor who became one of Israel's best-known humorists. His satiric books and movies were very popular in Israel and Europe. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon called him "one of the cultural giants of Israel."
During 50 years of writing, Ephraim Kishon sold millions of books and won two Golden Globes, yet he could never write his own biography. At the age of 70, he invited journalist Yaron London to assist him. Kishon uses animation to 'bring back to the life' Kishon's persona and reenact the rare dialog. This Israeli documentary directed by Eliav Lilti is shown in English subtitles.
